Hi guys its my first post in this forum, i wanna make a smps of 800w or even a little more, based on a sg3525 and ir2110 control board, but i got a question about the trasnformer, i need calculate the thickness of the wire for 10amps at +-40v. anyone got some formulas or books where i can find these formulas?

The SG its working at 200khz and i want to use a EE42/15.

Thanks guys and sry for the bad english.

Mslbll, Welcome to forums

Please be sure to check ( Carefully) the below threads, they contain many useful information's,

And if you still need help, you can keep your SMPS work into this thread, and complete it to the END, like TO247 did.

1- http://www.diysmps.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?28-Switching-Power-Supplies-Informations

2-http://www.diysmps.com/forums/showthread.php?79-1kW-smps-project-(based-on-MicrosiM-design)

3-http://www.diysmps.com/forums/showthread.php?182-quot-TO-247-quot-First-Project-600W-SMPS-Based-On-Ludo-s-Design

Transformer calculations can be found into first thread, all other posts contain many useful details, Please read the warnings in file ( Necessary Equipments needed for SMPS development.pdf)

Cool info Microsim thanks.

I want to build the smps whit the SG3525 + IR2110 control board, this one to be exactly http://www.forosdeelectronica.com/f21/smps-half-bridge-compacta-pcb-24457/ The 800w version.

The first thing i do was the transformer, whit 12 turns 1mm2 awg for primary and 10 turns of same wire for secondary.

Now, i try it whit an IR2153 driver to test if the transformer works good, and i got a problem, The transformer brings me +-55v at output, all cool, but when i put a charge, (90ohms lamps) 40w 220v lamp betwen ground and +55 the voltage drops to 42v. That is correct? Maybe this transformer dont work very well whit the ir2153 cuz its not designed for this chip? Why i got that voltage drop?

Ill start the construction of the 800w smps, More updates comming.

Thanks

some pictures and some oscilliscope waves may make it more helpfull.

Voltage drop is normal at 500W load, IR2153 chip has nothing to do with voltage drop, ALL unregulated SMPS will DROP voltage.

Are you using ETD 49 with original core?

No, im not using a 500w load, just 90omhs, about 33w.

Saddly i dont hace a good oscilloscope, just one whit one chanel at 10mhz.

Im using a EE42/15 and i think its n27 material.

Isolate that oscilloscope, and use it it will show things.

I have to see your schematic, witch circuit, transformer winding, running frequency of smps, etc...

Well, i get some pics from my oscilloscope.

First, here is the circuit.
