Leco smps some ugly tests...

Last night, before sleep, I did some tests, and there's one for testing Inrush Current Limmiter+Delay Coupling+Some Oscillogrames on IGBT B-E pins+Trafo Thermal Protection (simulated with welding hammer heating thermistor)

Enjoy!

That means power, sustained power:

More than 5Kw sustained from soket (221Vx25,5A) :

Main fuse 30A after test:

Maximum draw curent from AC plug soket 26A:

All tests without overcurent protection...

In all videos, JUST ETD59, the only core that I use.
>>> when you pushed to the limit " 5kwt " did the etd 59 over heat ?
>>>also what frequency did were you using ?
>>>which igbt are you using and are you driving half or full bridge?
>>>what wire did you use litz wire or flat wire in the etd primary and secondary windings?

When you say you have 140vdc on idle. Does that mean you have a + and - 140vdc smps. Or you have a + and - 70vdc smps.

At 5 Kw, the core will get warm without fan blowing air on it.

Is Half Bridge resonant mode topology, at 70 Khz

I used LitzWire.

IGBT's , still in testing for decide exact ones, usually I used IRG4PC50

Secondary is winded in last tests for +/- 125Vdc in idle.

First SMPS made for one 1000W AB class amplifier, that I've sold last week to a friend, he asked me to make SMPS for that module.

Made at minimum costs, just +/- 100Vdc per power amp, one +12 volts for fan and one +10 volts for one small Mp3 module.

Calibrated for 1800Watts continuous, protection tripping at 2,1Kw

Uncalibrated protection test (without protection)

Testing with protection enabled and calibrated:

And final test, a big short circuit

Hi Mr Leco , i am repair Yamaha PA model P7000s , smps is defect ,can i use IGBT code : HGTG30N60A4D for replacement G4PC50U on smps this

thanks,

regard,

Yes, you can use!

But be sure the code is finishing with HGTG30N60A4D, and made exclusive by FAIRCHILD.

thanks Mr Leco, for your explain ,so HGTG30N60A4Ad is beter then G4PC50U

i've done to fix it (Yamaha P7000S), but the transformer hot until 50 C ,IGBT 40 C at small volume ,thas normal ????

thanks,
