Trials on LM2575

Hello,
I was just trying the circuit from the datasheet of LM2575.
Parameters are :
I/P=8.5V,OP=5V nominal,Iload=1A.
When I check with a multimeter,I found that the OP voltage is 5V with no load and drops to about 4.9V under a load of 1A.I am using a mosfet as a Dummy load to check the performance. So far so good.
When I put a scope on the output,I found that the actual voltage was shooting upto 25V with a lot of ringing. But if i bring down the load to about 30mA,the output is a clean 5VDC.Is there anything which I could check?
I have attached a scope shot,if someone would like to have a look. The voltage is DC coupled and at 5V/divn,1uS timebase.
TIA.

Seems to be a problem with the dummy load and probing technique, not with the regualtor. If I load it down with a resistor for equivalent current load there is no problem and the output noise is less than 20mV.
