Dx Blame MKIII - Builder's thread

Thanks for appreciating my work Sir giololucas, the box enclosure was a recycled case from a big damping resistor for a solar power panel. It was given to me as a gift by my good friend Junie, and it was a really good fit for the MKIII project.

Hello all.
I have little experience mounting of amplifiers, but I just mounted a DX Blame Supercharged who is playing beautifully (thanks Carlos Mergulhão!), And I have some questions about the MK3-HX:
Ps.: I'll make it in a configuration with two 600VA transformers, each channel with + / - 64V rectified.

1 - 10,000 uF capacitors will be 80V, right? and all other capacitors and condensers, must use the values that are printed on the boards or follow the listing provided by Byron, that shows all capacitors above 100V? (except some caps); the electrolytic caps 47, 100 and 220uF, at 100V are wider than the spaces available.

2 - It is necessary in my configuration, make an external PSU or can connect directly to the rectified current of + / - 64V on board and use the 4 capacitors on the board. I confess that I do not understand why to use an external source

Sorry if these questions are so obvious to you, but I tried here in the forum and elsewhere and have not found satisfactory answers.

Thank you very much!!
Everton.

It is not that needed to use 100 volts or 80 volts condensers

People has too much worries about that, when in the real world the electrolitic condenser manufacturers does not make 64 volts units that will explode with 64.1 volts...this will never happens...in the reality the specification is the WORST CASE SCENARIO when you will be using 64 volts and then your mains voltage variates a lot and the condenser is made to be able to face much more voltage...the 64V condenser may accept more than 80 volts easy...they make this way...they say 64 volts printed..but this is the super guaranteed most reliable safe voltage..the unit is designed to withstand much more than that.

You can use the condensers you have in the board..... they are there to fill empty spaces and to reduce your supply board size, not needing to install several when you already have four units mounted into the audio amplifier pcboard.

Quanto ao tamanho eu não sei pq não tenho a placa aqui...about the size to install capacitors and condensers i cannot say because i do not have the board at my home....i will have after Zimmer receive his boards..then he will send me a sample to test..... tente enfiar, dobre pernas ou procure outros...try to install, fold the leads or try to find other capacitors.... 64V capacitors are good in many cases, but there are exceptions... the zobel filter needs 250 or 400V capacitors (fica na saída em serie com um resistor... deve ser de 47n ou de 100n se bem me lembro)

Use google translator Efragnani, i am lazy to type all that stuff in portuguese.

Carlos

heheheh... no problem Carlos, thank you very much for your attention. I'll use the values specified in the board, or 80V, or 100 ... any condensers that i have at home. Yes, the 47n resistor is a 250V in series with a 15R/3W resitor.

Again, thank you.
Regards.
Everton.

Carlos, sorry the question, but in this amplifier the famous toshiba's pair can support the work with 4ohms without burn? Sure, considering big heatsinks.
Thanks a lot master.

No problems Eulen .... you can use them without fear to 4 ohms speakers

Sem problemas...só não ligue em 2 ohms.

Soon i will be testing the MKIII Hx circuit board

Fabio Zimmer, from Brasil, has sent a sample, as a gift, in order to uncle charlie test the board searching for mistakes, failures or any issue about the circuit board.
